April is one of my favorite months of the year.  Not only does it symbolize the awakening of Spring and many signs of new life, but it is also the month in which my beloved and dear “Buddy-O” (a.k.a. Wile E.) was born.  It was April Fool’s Day, 1997, to be exact.

This would have been his “Sweet 16” year, but sadly, we said good-bye to him last June.  He was the kindest, most gentle soul I have ever known.

And so to honor Wile E.’s “Sweet 16” this year, I announced the “LOVE YOUR PETS!” Calendar Contest on his birthday, to benefit PAWS for Life, a No-Kill Animal Shelter in Pueblo, Colorado.

He’s no doubt watching over the event with a happy and glad heart.  Wile E. made friends everywhere he went, and he was a very well-traveled boy.  This month’s photo was taken at the top of Engineer’s Pass, near Ouray, Colorado.  He was doing what he enjoyed best; hiking up a mountain with his peeps, watching a killer sunset!
