Here I am once again celebrating another birthday with my long-time heart throb, my absolute #1 photography subject, and very dear friend, Oberon. This isn’t just any old birthday. It’s his 10th, and I’m so honored to be a part of this great celebration every year since 2007.
I first laid eyes on this smiling, charming fellow on October 29, 2005. I was doing mini-sessions for dogs at the Clearwater Dog Training Halloween Party, in Denver, Colorado. I remember thinking to myself, “Wow, that little devil is gonna steal some hearts along the way.”
I knew there was something special about him then….but over the past ten years of loving him, I have learned that I really had no idea just how much of my heart he’d steal.
He’s been through it all, thick and thin, with his devoted, loving mom right by his side. Obie was born with an unparalleled zest for life, and even now, though his physical body may be growing weary and tired, he continues to teach me some very important lessons: Smile all the time, every day (no matter what) – love everyone – share your toys – make as many friends as possible – cherish your doting parents – get out there and enjoy everything about life as we know it. Because you just never know when it’s time to say good-bye…and begin a new life journey.
Below are just a few of my favorite memories from the party. He was accompanied by adoring friends, aunts and uncles, his personal photographer (yours truly), and even some of his beloved caretakers at Harmony Veterinary Clinic in Arvada, Colorado. Obie is one loved guy, and he loves us all right back ten-fold. He is quite simply one of the most amazing people I’ve ever known.
