New Kid: One Week Update

IMG_9458 (1024x683)Time sure flies when you’re having fun!  It’s already been one week since Me Me came home to live with us…and she has come so far.  She and Bub have really hit it off, and Mr. Skeeto is loving her, too.

Being a youngster at less than 2 years old, she still has plenty to learn, but boy does she figure things out quick!

She had her new name down in one afternoon, and she’s becoming a real pro at “Sit” and “Stay.”  We’re focusing heavily on “Come” and “Off” – two very important things to know when studying to be a successful canine graduate here at el Rancho.

IMG_9479 (1024x721)Bub has been sharing with her all of his soft squishy beds, abundance of toys that squeak, and even his very own room.  She runs right in there with him to wait for her home-cooked meals, and is even teaching Bub a thing or two about having good manners in a crate.  So far, her favorite thing seems to be sunbathing 🙂  Doesn’t like the cold too much, so I’ve started to crochet her a custom-fit sweater to prepare for the bitter nights coming ahead!

She’s not so sure about all the quiet…and darkness….and wind around here.  There’s no doubt she’s a city girl at heart.  It is so quiet where we live that everyday noises to us are probably ten times amplified for her – like planes flying overhead, or a Flicker squawking at the bird bath.

She found her Big-Girl voice the other night when she heard a pack of howling coyotes in the distance.  It’s good to know she’s not afraid to tell us all when danger is near.

IMG_20151108_092517752 (684x1024)It will take some time for her to learn just how big her new yard is, so we’re taking baby steps with her and keeping her tethered to a long leash outdoors.

There are so many things we look forward to exploring with her, and we have so enjoyed watching her adapt to her new playmates and surroundings – as if she were meant to be here with us all along.

We look forward to making many new memories with this good girl!

  1. Great write-up and great pictures! We enjoyed reading your story tonight. The girl is really fitting in! She thinks she’s in doggie heaven, huh? You guys are wonderful parents to your furry children. You and the pups are so fortunate! I love you – Mom
