Fun with timed exposure!

SnowMoon

The Spanish Peaks, kissed by the Snow Moon!

I shot this last night, just after the Snow Moon began to rise.

This is our glorious view of the Spanish Peaks, from right outside our bedroom
window.

I used a 30-second timed exposure to capture the moonlight on the Peaks.

Looks like a daytime shot, but if you look real close, you can see some stars, and you’ll notice the long shadows on the ground.

It’s not very often that we have a blanket of snow on the ground during a full moon…and how appropriate that on the night of the Snow Moon, we see snow not only on the ground, but covering those glorious Mountains!

CrestedButte08_1Having fun with timed exposure reminds me of another fun “experiment” I had a few years back.  We were camping near Crested Butte, and we watched the most awesome storm crawl up the valley to our campsite, just after dark.  Gives me chills just looking at this again!

Campfires (WHEN SAFE AND ALLOWED, of course) also provide a very interesting and entertaining subject for timed exposure.  I love this shot of my sweetie “stoking” our fire that same night.

A memorable trip, indeed!
