While we spotted our first hummingbird visitor (a male Broadtail) as early as last Friday, April 11, I hadn’t really taken the time to watch and interact with them until yesterday. It was growing dark, as a storm was rolling in – which is usually a very active time for the little birds. So please forgive the grainy photos – I didn’t want to disturb their feeding and play time by getting up to go get the tri-pod 🙂
Most of these are one of our favorite annual first-comers, “Black Beard,” a male Black-Chinned hummingbird. You’ll know it’s him when you see him flashing his brilliant purple neck. The others are a male Broadtail (with his back to the camera, white stripes on neck), and what I believe to be a female Broadtail (the beauty perched on the twig, with a dotted neck). I am so delighted in their arrival!
Thanks for my morning smile. You captured the sheer essence of these wonderful little ‘light up my life’ birds. They are truly a gift from God. Happy Easter, Honey. I love you – Mom
Nice work capturing these little guys…
