With temps in the teens, a howling wind, and buckets of snow coming down, I am forced into doing a little bird-watching from my kitchen window today. There’s just something about a wild snow storm that inspires these wonderful little creatures to put on a free performance for us.
The most handsome Finch of all (top left) is our dear, beloved Floyd, a Cassin’s Finch. He has been a regular visitor here at el Rancho throughout the entire Winter season. We really love his beautiful pink coloring on his chin and breast. And when he flashes is firey-pink top-knot, it is quite the sight to see! I’m so glad to see him enjoying the storm with all his favorite feathered friends. Who needs T.V. when you have a live show like this before your eyes?!
